Crosstown Construction

I've been a little camera-happy since Zach got me Cammy McCameran, my new camera.  In case the name left any doubt.

There's some crazy-looking construction going on on the Crosstown - the road we sometimes take into downtown Tampa.  They're building an overpass and it's kind of cool to see the giant partial pieces of road floating above us.  Those slabs of cement and steel are STRONG to be held up by such relatively small support beams.

It seems that Tampa is in a constant state of construction, and honestly, that's fine with me.  I welcome the growth.  Now, if this sort of thing were to happen in San Antonio, Florida, my sleepy and small hometown, I would definitely freak.  San Ann needs to remain frozen in time, just as it is, to maintain its small-town charm.

Do any of you feel that way about your hometown?

Downtown Tampa, from an admittedly ugly viewpoint - the Crosstown.  I work in one of the skyscrapers behind the big one on the left.

Part II of our NYE festivities coming soon!

  1. Oh, Tampa... So much construction. I used to ride bikes with my parents in San Antonio - I love how small town it is (and all of the cows that graze in the pastures!) That must have been a crazy commute to TP though. I thought New Tampa to downtown was bad!

  2. New Tampa to downtown IS bad. It was about a 50 minute drive to Tampa Prep. I can't say I miss it. :) I think your brother was on the CC team? We used to run the 10k Rattlesnake Run in San Ann every year with the Tampa Prep CC team. I would be shocked if I could run that far these days... Need to get on that. Oh, hi there 2013 resolution!

  3. I don't think he did cross country but he may have run the race, he is a big runner. I started cross country my sophomore year and I think I did the Rattlesnake Run at least one year! I def can't do a 10k anymore either. :/ Whoops!
